Oxenfree

Night;
island;
five late teens
open portals.
It gets all “banana bread” really fast.

Out
of the
portals, ghosts,
formerly trapped;
they desire freedom; is leave possible?

Quite
creepy
and very
atmospheric,
the world of Edwards Island drags you in.

Cairns
reveal
some eerie
anomalies;
some things really are better left unheard.

And
letters
are later
found, adding to
a history that’s tragic, dark and deep.

As
well, there’s
compelling
characters, and
superb dialogue that delights and stuns.

The
time loops
are also
very clever,
unnerving you and characters alike.

They
loop, and
loop, and loop,
and loop, and loop.
This has happened before, they realise.

One
major
favourite
moment of mine:
the final scene, and its implications.

Time
loops, and
loops, and loops,
and loops, and loops–
Somehow this all seems quite familiar.

More
good things
include: Ren
and his “brownies”;
Major Dick Harden; Nona is my fave.

(Poetic form: tetractys, because it’s based off triangle numbers, and triangles appear often in the game. Neat, right?  😀 … Anyone?)
